Safety in this dynamic industry is a vital topic. Safety should not be confused with ISPS and C-TPAT regulations, these are security related. Safety is most of time subject to international HSE (Health Safety Environment ) regulations.  UAL – vessels are operating in specialized oil- and gas business and are very much subject to additional oil- and gas customers safety procedures. The main issue with safety is always human related and this part cannot be captured in a manual. At times the human topic creates conflicts between safety and production.

On both vessels as terminals the crew and stevedores have to comply with all procedures and are subject to many internal and external audits. All (lifting) equipment used and auxiliary assets (such as lifting wires, lashing materials, etc) must be certified and are subject to regular checks and controls. All ‘hard ware’ or machines and equipment are. The ‘soft ware’ human link remains a variable factor.  In order to minimize the incidents ratio clear communication is vital which leads to constant awareness of dangers. Clear interaction between all parties operating in the work – process and a healthy common sense will result in best practices and safe benchmarking  and keep all alert when operations are executed.
